Babi Yar
Babi Yar? Yes, that's a place in the Ukraine.
"Babi Yar (Бабий Яр) is a ravine in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and a site of massacres carried out by German forces and local Ukrainian collaborators during their campaign against the Soviet Union in World War II. The first and best documented of the massacres took place on 29–30 September 1941, killing approximately 33,771 Jews. The decision to kill all the Jews in Kiev was made by the military governor Generalmajor Kurt Eberhard, the Police Commander for Army Group South, SS-Obergruppenführer Friedrich Jeckeln, and the Einsatzgruppe C Commander Otto Rasch. Sonderkommando 4A soldiers, along with the aid of the SD and SS Police Battalions with the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police backed by the Wehrmacht, carried out the orders.
"The massacre was the largest mass killing under the auspices of the Nazi regime and its collaborators during its campaign against the Soviet Union and has been called ‘the largest single massacre in the history of the Holocaust’ to that particular date, surpassed only by the 1941 Odessa massacre of more than 50,000 Jews in October 1941 (committed by German and Romanian troops) and by Aktion Erntefest of November 1943 in occupied Poland with 42,000-43,000 victims.
"Victims of other massacres at the site include Soviet prisoners of war, communists, Ukrainian nationalists, and Roma. It is estimated that between 100,000 and 150,000 people were killed at Babi Yar during the German occupation."
Dina Pronicheva
One of the most often-cited parts of Anatoly Kuznetsov's documentary novel Babi Yar is the testimony of Dina Pronicheva, an actress of the Kiev Puppet Theatre, and a survivor. She was one of those ordered to march to the ravine, to be forced to undress and then be shot. Jumping before being shot and falling on other bodies, she played dead in a pile of corpses. She held perfectly still while the Nazis continued to shoot the wounded or gasping victims. Although the SS had covered the mass grave with earth, she eventually managed to climb through the soil and escape. Since it was dark, she had to avoid the torches of the Nazis finishing off the remaining victims still alive, wounded and gasping in the grave. She was one of the very few survivors of the massacre and later related her horrifying story to Kuznetsov. At least 29 survivors are known.
Initially she tore up her identity card and claimed that she was not Jewish and was only seeing someone off, but the Germans decided to kill her anyway so that she would not be a witness.

All around and beneath her she could hear strange submerged sounds, groaning, choking and sobbing... The whole mass of bodies were pressed tighter by the movements of the ones who were still living.

One SS-man caught his foot against Dina and her appearance aroused his suspicions... But she hung limp and gave no signs of life. He kicked her in the breast with his heavy boot and trod on the right hand so that the bones cracked, but he didn't use his gun, and went off...
A few minutes later she heard a voice calling from above: "Demidenko! Come on, start shoveling!"
Her whole body was buried under the sand but she did not move until it began to cover her mouth. She was lying face upwards, breathed in some sand and started to choke, and then, scarcely realizing what she was doing, she started to struggle in a state of uncontrollable panic...
With her left hand, the good one, she started scraping the sand off herself, scarcely daring to breathe lest she should start coughing; she used what strength she had left to hold the cough back. She began to feel a little easier...
"Don't be scared, lady! I'm alive too."
It was a small boy in vest and pants who had crawled out as she had done. He was trembling and shivering all over.
"Quiet!" she hissed at him. "Crawl along behind me."

Woah! This definitely shows the other side of the story I've been direly wanting to hear, but somehow this video was complicated for me to find and yet it took a great person from a comment to recommend me this video. I was skeptical when I was first watching this vid at the beginning since I'm strongly supporting Ukraine/NATO, but I must admit this changes some things and likely understand both sides of the story now. Perhaps everyone truly has a point, but is responsible for this war as well, Interesting. As I say, always check the flip side of anything even though it might seem one side is the rightful one. I hope this video doesn't get taken down cause clearly many shady things are going on from behind that are being kept away from us. One thing for sure let's hope this war ends peacefully for all and swiftly.
The main problem is that Azov is not the only far-right battalion in Ukraine. Google up Aidar Battalion, Donbass Battalion, Tornado Battalion, Right Sector of Ukraine.
Knowing there are people like this in the world sickens me. It’s sad to witness that hate and evil seem to be winning the battle it’s hard to feel hope in humanity these days.

There is no only Azov. There are also Aidar, Donbass, DYK "Right Sector", Dnepr, UNSO (UNA-UNSO) battalions. It's like thousand nationalist fighters, and now it is they who receive Western weapons to fight the Russians.
